# Vessel studio renders: method and limits

Published 14 October 2026 by Saint Lucia Policy Analysis.

These two images are generated editorial illustrations, based on selected photographs of the likely Ocean Angel #3 and the boat displaying SL078180. They are not measured reconstructions, registry evidence or photographs of the collision.

## Ocean Angel

The pale-canopy configuration follows the dockside and empty-interior photographs: an off-white hull, red interior, red-and-white crosswise cushions, an aft console and one visible outboard. The separate beach photograph shows a blue canopy; the new render does not combine that with the pale-canopy configuration or claim to show the collision-night state.

The wording **OCEAN ANGEL #3** represents the name and fleet label visible in the photographic comparison. The generated font, size and placement are illustrative, not an exact reproduction of its livery. Neither disputed registration, SL077875 nor SL077857, is painted on the render. The number-to-hull history remains unresolved.

The prior [layout illustration](assets/ocean-angel-layout-illustration.webp) was a style/layout reference, not independent evidence.

## Cazorla Jr.

The render follows the unedited source photograph of the boat with **SL078180**: a light outer hull, blue interior and transverse benches, aft console and one visible outboard. The number is reproduced as a representation of the photographed marking, not as independent registry authentication. Its generated lettering size and position remain approximate.

The source contains support tubes extending beyond the photographed area. Because fabric coverage is not established in that view, the illustration leaves the tubes without fabric. **This does not establish that the actual boat lacked a canopy.**

The prior [layout illustration](assets/cazorla-jr-layout-illustration.webp) supplied a style/layout reference. The new Ocean Angel render supplied the matching studio style only; its vessel details were not used as evidence for Cazorla.

## Shared limits and production

Both images use a warm neutral studio background and a similar elevated three-quarter angle. They synthesize unseen hull surfaces, minor fittings, textures and shadows. They do not establish exact dimensions, relative vessel size, engine manufacturer or rating, capacity, safety equipment, operating condition, or collision-night appearance.

No people or accident events are depicted in the studio renders. Engine brand and power markings are omitted. The source record and generated illustrations remain separate.

Photo 01 is now publicly displayed and downloaded as an AI-assisted privacy edit with softened faces. The edit also regenerated pixels outside the faces, so its lettering and fine details cannot independently authenticate the vessel. The marking assessment and original visual references used the unedited source, retained in the non-public research record. `photos.json` records the source hash separately from the public derivative’s hash. The other ten catalogue photographs remain unchanged.

The built-in image-generation tool produced each asset in a separate reference-guided call. All reference images were inspected first. The generated PNGs are 1536 × 1024 pixels (3:2). Responsive WEBP copies are 1600 × 1067 and 800 × 533 pixels. The 1600-pixel version is a small resampling enlargement for the requested display format; it adds no source detail. Only resizing and format conversion followed generation.

Visible label: **Simulated**. The nearby captions identify AI generation and estimated proportions.

## Story cover and passenger privacy

The empty-boat story cover and faces-softened Photo 01 display have a separate [privacy and image method](privacy-image-method.md), including their [generation prompts](privacy-image-prompts.json).
