Fishing is a distinctive economic anchor: Dennery is a major and consistently active landing location in the long-run national fisheries series, especially for large pelagic species. Landing trends are not the same as constituency employment or income.

The seafood economy supports fishers, vendors, food service, transport and the Dennery Seafood Fiesta; Dennery Segment music adds a recognized creative-economy and cultural-tourism asset.

Agriculture remains important in the wider Dennery district and rural O1 hinterland, while village retail, government services, schools, health care, construction and transport provide additional work.

The active BRACCVAS project is supporting climate-resilient farming in the wider Dennery area through erosion-control planting, soil/water measures, technical training, youth engagement and resource-equity work. The CDB source does not divide beneficiaries between Dennery South and North.

Government has a renovation scope for the operating hospital, and procurement activities were being completed in July 2025. No authoritative construction-start or completion notice was found by 11 August 2026.

Dennery Village was identified by the government disaster project as particularly vulnerable to flash flooding and landslides; Hurricane Tomas (2010) and the 2013 Christmas trough damaged homes, roads, bridges, utilities, schools and farmland in the area.

Fisher safety is an active concern; 2025 action included emergency grab bags, safety instruction and gear distribution at the landing site.
